Our Speaker this year is Silvia Pettem, local historian and author, known for her recurring column on Boulder’s history at the Daily Camera and some very intriguing books. We plan on being delighted by her presentation on the history of Boulder.

Amy Blackwell of Castle Rock, Co-Director of Public Policy for AAUW-Colorado, will speak on issues relevant to AAUW, and the organizations positions on those issues.
Steve Colby, economist with the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (retired), will address other election issues on the ballot this year.

The annual state meeting to focus on Public Policy issues facing Colorado, and AAUW’s involvement. Deadline to register is Jan 28th, cost is $35/person (includes lunch)

Carol Hedges, Director of the Colorado Fiscal Policy Institute
Meryl Runion, Certified Speaking Professional, and creator of Speak Strong.
Topics will include the Colorado budget, the activities of the AAUW-Colorado Lobby Corps, and Discussing Issues Across Generational Lines.

2011 State Convention is being held Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30 in Boulder, Colorado.

An AAUW Group Rate is available at the Best Western Boulder Inn, but book your reservation quickly; CU-Boulder’s Graduation Weekend is the following weekend.
Friday Program: Night at the Museum – Reception held at the Natural History Museum at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Saturday at NCAR, the National Center for Atmospheric Research, which happens to be both a stunning building, and have among the most stunning views in town.

Expanding Your Horizons – 2010
Hands-on workshops in science and technology for middle-school girls

We put a lot of work into this event, and bring in approximately 300 girls to the workshops. Calls for volunteers have gone out, and will probably go out again. The day-of is closer than you think, and we’re all very excited to see what comes of it this year.
